The Centre for Justice Law and Society (CJLS) in collaboration with the CPA Project & Detention Solidarity invites you to the third webinar in the four part webinar series titled 'Towards an anti-Carceral Politics: Rethinking Crime and Punishment in India'.

About Centre for Justice, Law, and Society (CJLS)

The Centre for Justice, Law, and Society (CJLS) is a multidisciplinary research centre at Jindal Global Law School that critically engages with contemporary issues at the intersection of law, justice, society and marginalization in South Asia.

About Criminal Justice and Police Accountability (CPA)

The Criminal Justice and Police is a Bhopal based litigation, research and capacity building intervention. We combine strategic and empirical research to hold justice system accountable for imposing casteist and colonial modes social control on Denotified Tribal and other marginalised communities.

About Detention Solidarity

Detention Solidarity Network (DetSolNet) is an online space to critically engage with the structures and experiences of detention that constitute the carceral state in India.

In continuation of the series, CJLS in collaboration with CPA Project & Detention Solidarity will be hosting a panel on "Gender Justice & Anti-Carceral Politics: Framing a Feminist Critique of Carcerality in India". It will be held on 27th November, 2021, from 05 P.M to 06:30 P.M IST.

Through this panel, will explore the relationship that the feminist movement in India has forged with the criminal justice system and the debates that have emerged in the interrogation of this relationship.

The Speakers for this Panel Include:

Vqueeram: Vqueeram is an independent researcher. They live & love in Delhi.

Ratna Appnender: Ratna Appnender is a lawyer and legal researcher who lives and works in Delhi.

Safoora Zargar: Safoora is currently pursuing her MPhil-PhD in sociology from Jamia Milia Islamia. She his best known for her role in the anti-CAA protests and her subsequent arrest under the UAPA.
