About Gujarat Maritime University 

Gujarat Maritime University (GMU) is an endeavour by the Gujarat Maritime Board, Government of Gujarat, to provide a fillip to the maritime sector by bridging the knowledge gap within the industry. GMU has been established to serve the global maritime community by producing educated and well-trained professionals in the maritime domain.

It aims to enhance and increase the human capital and capacity of the maritime industry both in India and across the globe. University operates the School of Maritime Law, Policy & Administration (SMLPA), which offers LL.M and Executive Diploma Programmes in Maritime Law and International Trade Law.

The University also offers MBA in shipping and Logistics under its school of Maritime Management (SMM). In pursuit of creating an institution of global standards, GMU has collaborated with internationally prominent institutions like Erasmus University, STC International, CBS Executive, ISWAN, and many more such alliances shall be forged in time to come.

About Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University

Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University was established as State University in 1973 and in 2009 it was elevated to a Central University by the Central Universities Act 2009. In 1975, the University established a School of Law, with the aim of imparting legal education and disseminating legal awareness among the masses. The School of Law presently offers LLB, LLM, PhD courses in its two centres.

Introduction to the Training Programme 

Maritime Law is a unique field of law that renders a great impact on the everyday life of the people. In today’s world, no country can work in isolation, and maritime law enables countries to connect. As 90% of global trade depends upon ships, a great deal of emphasis has to be laid on the regulations governing the sea.

Shipping law is an intricate yet exciting field to pursue as a professional. Increasing work in the maritime space because of reasons like ship arrest, cargo claims etc., provides excellent opportunities. Seven days Training Program is aimed to cover a wide range of areas related to maritime law, including Shipping Contract, Marine Environment, Marine labour law, Admiralty law etc.

Significance of the Course 

To make the participants aware of the legal framework governing the maritime sector. It will equip participants with knowledge of contemporary and advanced issues related to the maritime sector. The training course would be ideal for students and professionals aiming to be specialists in the shipping and maritime domain.

Target Audience

The program is designed for anyone who has a passion for shipping and the diverse legalities that ships need to comply with not just limited nationally but on an international level. The course is also aimed to attract those who are already working in the industry but strive to get on to a very exciting and challenging role.
