About Prof. C. H. Alexandrowicz Memorial Lecture Series

Prof. Alexandrowicz has played a phenomenal role in the development of international law in India. In 1951 Prof. Alexandrowicz was appointed Professor of International and Constitutional Law at the University of Madras. He explored the history of international law in Asia and established the Indian Yearbook of International Affairs. This Memorial Lecture series is a befitting tribute to the extraordinary legal luminary, who is now largely forgotten by the modern-age scholars of International Law and History in India.

The first lecture of the series was delivered on by Dr. Carl Landauer on ‘C.H. Alexandrowicz, India, and the Excavation of International Law’. The second lecture of the series will be delivered by Prof. M. Sornarajah.

About the Speakers

Prof. M. Sornarajah is an Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. He is Visiting Professor at the Centre for Human Rights, London School of Economics and the Tunku Abdul Rahman Professor of International Law at the University of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur. He was also the Head of the Law School of the University of Tasmania, Australia. He has studied law at the University of Ceylon, the London School of Economics, King’s College, London and the Yale Law School.

The other speakers of the event are Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor, MNLU Mumbai and Dr. Stellina Jolly, Associate Professor, Faculty of Legal Studies, South Asian University, India.

The lecture shall be moderated by Adithya Anil Variath and Amana Khare. Bar and Bench is the Media Partner for the Lecture Series.

The lecture will be held on the WebEx platform.
