Participate: IDIA Hyderabad Chapter's National Essay Writing Competition (Register by Dec 31)

IDIA is a student-run organization that aims to train underprivileged students and transform them into leading lawyers and community advocates.

Bar & Bench

The Hyderabad Chapter of IDIA is organizing the National Essay Writing Competition with multiple themes, because we believe that the art of writing holds utmost significance as a way to enter other people's bodies and see the world through their eyes, not only as a tool of communication.

The IDIA project was initiated to reach out to marginalized and under-represented groups to sensitize them about law as a viable career option and help students from these communities to secure admission in India's leading law colleges.

IDIA hopes that such access to legal education will pivot the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities. IDIA is a pan-India law school movement, the cause of which the Hyderabad Chapter at NALSAR hopes to further.

About IDIA

Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) is a non-profit organization working in India which aims to empower underprivileged children by providing them with equal access to quality legal education. IDIA founded by Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer, it is a student-run organization that aims to train underprivileged students and transform them into leading lawyers and community advocates.

The IDIA movement has now spread to at least 18 different states and union territories. Local teams have visited a large number of schools across India, from the Sunder bans in West Bengal and Pelling in the Northeast to Jitholi in Uttar Pradesh and Srinagar in the North to Tumkur in the South. The modus operandi for selection and training is thus: A simple aptitude test (involving mostly logical reasoning questions) is administered to check the students' aptitude for the study of law.
