ABOUT NYAYSHASTRAM

Nyayashastram is a student-run organisation under the Chairmanship of Mr Ratan K Singh, Advocate & Arbitrator, Supreme Court of India along with the aid and advice from eminent Lawyers and Academicians across the nation.

The initiative is aimed to foster legal research, writing and presentation by providing a platform to encourage e-learning through various competitions and events conducted utilising the virtual platforms.

Headquartered in New Delhi with offices in Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, & Chandigarh, Pratap & Company is a litigating law firm representing its client across Supreme Court of India, various High courts across India, NCLAT, NCLT, NCDRC, NGT, APTEL managed by Ms. Pallavi Pratap, Advocate on-Record, Supreme Court of India.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The competition simulates a court hearing in which the participants shall have to analyse a problem, research the relevant law, prepare written submissions, and present oral argument. The moot problem is set in an area of law that is currently, unsettled and is subject to recent developments.

There shall be two grounds of appeal to be argued by each side. The competition will have five rounds, viz. Preliminary Round, Octa-Final Round, Quarter Final Round, Semi Final Round and the Final Round. The moot proposition will prima facie present a matrimonial dispute, however, the scope shall be kept broad to inculcate a multi-disciplinary understanding of the subject.

Nyayshastram invites UG students currently enrolled in their 3-years or 5-years integrated law degree to participate in Nyayshastram-Pratap & Co. National Matrimonial Moot Court Competition, 2021 (Virtual).

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open for students who are enrolled in the three year or five-year course from any law school recognised by the Bar Council of India. There is no limit on the number of teams participating from one institution. Cross University teams are not allowed.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Each team should consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 members in which two members shall be designed as the “Speakers” and one member shall be designated as the “Researcher”. No shuffling shall be allowed without prior permission from the Organisers.

In case of a two-member team, one of the Speakers shall act as the Researcher, whenever necessary.

Each team will be provided with a Team Code after successful registration of the team.

REGISTRATION

There shall be a registration fee of INR 1200 per team for taking part in the competition and is payable through transferring the amount to bank account ONLY.
