Nyayshastram's 2nd National Moot Court Competition (virtual)

Nyayshastram in association with PSL | PS Legal, Advocates & Consultants, and Fiducia Legal, Advocates & Solicitors, New Delhi is conducting the Second Edition of their National Moot Court Competition scheduled to be held between 11-13 June 2021.

The first edition of this moot witnessed participation from over 40 colleges/institutions across the country. The competition simulates a court hearing in which the participants shall have to analyse a problem, research the relevant law, prepare written submissions, and present an oral argument.

The moot problem is set in an area of law that is currently unsettled and is subject to recent developments. There shall be two grounds of appeal to be argued by each side.

Memorial Qualification Round – This shall be open to all teams that register for the competition. The results of this round shall be based on evaluation of the memorials and the Top 32 scoring teams shall advance to the Oral Rounds.

Oral Rounds – There shall be five such rounds, viz. Preliminary Round, Octa-Final Round, Quarter Final Round and Final Round. Each one of such rounds shall be a knock-out round and the team securing a win in each court hall shall advance to the subsequent rounds accordingly.

Researcher’s Test – There shall be a Researcher’s Test for the Researchers of the Top 32 teams.

  • There is no limit on the number of teams participating in this competition.

  • Cross university teams are not allowed.

Eligibility

The competition is open for students who are enrolled in the three year or five-year course or from any law school recognised by the Bar Council of India.

There is no limit on the number of teams participating from one institution, however, cross- University teams are not allowed.

Registration

To register for the competition, the participants will have to fill the registration form on or before 3rd June 2021 (11:59 PM IST) accompanied by the fees for registration for the Memorial Qualification Round, i.e., INR 500 only. The results of the Memorial Qualification Round shall be announced on 7th June 2021 via email. The teams qualifying for the Oral Rounds will have to re-register themselves before 8th June 2021 by paying an additional fee of INR 1200 only.
