Moot Courts are mock courts that offer an opportunity to law students to hone their oratory, analytical and research skills. Mooting is extremely valuable in building up confidence of a law student as it teaches them basic etiquette required in a real court as well as the intricacies and technicalities of law. It not only means vehemently defending one side of the story, but also supporting one’s arguments with the help of legal principles and precedents.

Moot Court Competitions provide law students a practical and realistic way of learning and acquiring skills for a better future as a proficient lawyer. In the unprecedented times of COVID-19, most of such Competitions were conducted Online to ensure, on one hand, the safety of students and, on the other, that the process of learning for the students does not stop.

In keeping with the norms and prevalent culture in Law Schools around the globe, Amity Law School at Amity University Haryana has been organizing Amity National Moot Court Competition since 2016 wherein students of prestigious Law Institutes participate, and where dignitaries like Hon’ble Mr Justice Swatantra Kumar, Late Sh. Ram Jethmalani, Hon’ble Mr Justice Dipak Misra, Hon’ble Mr Justice G S Singhvi, Mr Salman Khurshid, Mr Vikas Singh, have visited, to provide impetus to students’ practical learning.

Students of Amity Law School regularly participate in various National and International Moot Court Competitions, not only to increase their knowledge of law and refine their oratory and research skills but also to bring laurels to their alma mater.

The Law School has a Legal Aid Cell that regularly organizes various events like Guest Lectures, Legal Aid Camps etc. to spread awareness among the people living in nearby villages, thereby fulfilling its duty to provide free legal aid to people in need.

Article 39A of the Constitution of India provides for free legal aid and ensures that justice is not denied to litigating parties due to financial difficulties. Legal Aid Clinics of Law Schools are meant for such free services provided by students and faculty members to help the underprivileged section of the society.

Legal Aid Clinics help by spreading awareness in rural or slum areas where the students approach people and connect with them to discuss their legal rights and guide them to avail facilities provided by the Governments for their benefit. The exercise helps in approaching and ensuring free legal aid to vulnerable sections of society, such as women and children, who may be victims of any kind of abuse like human trafficking etc.

Students also perform activities like street plays to generate interest and make it easier for those in need to understand the purpose of such drives and reach out for help.

Amity Law School takes pride that the students have taken great advantage of the exposure given to them by way of such Moot Court Competitions and Legal Aid Clinics along with all the other curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Students have acquired remarkable placements in premier Law Firms such as Trilegal, Khaitan & Co., DMD, United Lex, Polaris Softech, UpGrad, Reliance India, Byju’s and Government Agencies such as RBI and HRERA. The young School also boasts of three of its students having been selected as Judicial Officers in Delhi and UP State Judicial Services.

To encourage students to achieve their goals and to academically motivate them, Amity Law School also provides scholarships to them, both at the admission stage, and subsequently, based on merit. Amity Law School believes in holistic development of each student and has been working towards the same with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.
