Bar & Bench

Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Muneeb Rashid Malik, a fourth-year law student at Lloyd Law College.

Why did you choose to study law?

Law has always fascinated me because it governs us and the significant role, it plays in our lives. Our Constitution, which is a living constitution, has always inspired me, to put my best foot forward in life, keeping in mind that no one is above the law and the rule of law, which restricts the arbitrary exercise of power.

I have always been clear with my aims and ambitions in life. I used to visit Courts to observe the Judges and Advocates discharging their functions.

I used to read the profiles of the best legal talents in our country who have always been my true sources of inspiration, namely Justice Khanna, Justice Krishna Iyer, Justice Bhagwati, Fali Nariman, Soli Sorabjee, Ram Jethmalani, Ashok Desai, etc.

Why did you choose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador?

I joined Bar & Bench as a Campus Ambassador as I wanted to write about legal topics and issues, represent Bar & Bench in my College, report latest news from my college, and carry out other important functions as well.

I have written two articles which were published on the website. I have always talked about Bar & Bench to my college-mates and the dependability it possesses, is notable.

I would like to continue my association with Bar & Bench as it has also helped me immensely to improve my legal knowledge and acumen.

What are your plans after graduation?

I want to practice in the Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, and subordinate courts in Delhi. I, also want to carry out pro-bono litigation for the poor and marginalized sections of the society.

I want to assist people either by representing them in Courts or advising them, so that I can make a difference to their lives as far as possible, eventually, fulfilling the goals of the Constitution.
