Know Your Campus Ambassador: Anushka Mehta, GLC Mumbai

Bar & Bench

Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Anushka Mehta, a fourth-year student at Government Law College, Mumbai.

Why did you choose to study law?

When answering this question, "choose" is not the first word that comes to my mind since I did not actively choose to pursue law as a possible career option, but instead I reached this decision through elimination and due to a lack of interest in other subjects.

However, when undergoing coaching for CLAT and other admission tests, the subject of legal reasoning really drew me in. This resulted in me reading more, especially about the lives of great legal personalities and created a curiosity within me to garner more knowledge about various statutes.

Now, in hindsight, studying law should have been an obvious choice.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

I saw a post for applications on LinkedIn and liked the idea of being able to further awareness about events conducted by my law school as well as others.

Another attraction, for me, was the opportunity to dabble in legal journalism since I have always admired Bar & Bench's method of succinct reporting, which has made it so easy to stay updated.

What are your plans after completing law?

Pursuant to completing my legal studies, I would like to work and establish my position with a law firm in corporate practice.
