Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Anusha Jain, a fourth-year law student at Symbiosis Law School, Noida.

(Edited excerpts)

Why did you choose to study law?

I had always admired professionals in this field for their passion, patience and perseverance. The way lawyers carry themselves gracefully and assert their arguments has been idolized by my younger self. But only after venturing into this territory, I realized there is so much more than what meets the eye.

Laws are not mere words, they hold the authority as to even decide someone’s fate. There exist multiple interpretations of the same words and even a mere comma has its own place. It’s a world full of certainty yet ambiguity, waiting to be explored and explained which makes it truly beautiful.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

The reason I applied for the position of Campus Ambassador is that Bar and Bench has helped me keeping myself updated not only throughout the three years of my law school life but also during the time I was preparing for the law school entrance exams.

It gave me the courage during difficult times, through the interviews and columns of professors and professionals.

It has also motivated me throughout by highlighting the glory of legal profession. And it’s not just me, I have seen people from different walks of life, relying on Bar and Bench for their daily dose of legal information. Thus, it’s an honor to be part of such an esteemed news outlet.

What are your plans after completing law?

Right from the first internship, the fascination and respect for the person sitting at the highest position in the court has been paramount. While the powerful position is lucrative, I also understand the responsibilities that accompany it.

I have been exploring and experimenting with various fields through internships but I haven’t found anything that would be more gratifying than being a judicial officer.
