Event Report: VIT-AP School of Law's webinar on International Human Rights Day

The VIT-AP School of Law (VSL) conducted an outreach programme at Zilla Parishad High School at Mandadam last Wednesday as part of a two-days celebrations of Human Rights Day.

The theme of the event was Stand Up for Rights: Promotion and Protection of Human Rights.

On 10th December, Human Rights Day celebrated at VIT-AP School of Law to commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly in 10 December 1948.

The program was co-hosted by the Centre for Human Security Studies a Think Tank on Human Security in India, which is situated at Hyderabad.

Sri. Gautam Sawang, IPS, Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.

He informed the students about the usage technology in policing while protecting the rights of people of the state of Andhra Pradesh. He also called to work with AP police in close collaboration to serve the community. He concluded by appraising the services rendered by the Pradesh Police for the better governance in protection of the rights of people particularly marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society.

Prof. Dr. S. V. Kota Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of VIT-AP University, in his address highlighted the university’s contribution for the empowerment and promotion of the educational rights by supporting of student’s education who belongs to marginalized communities.

Dr. Ramesh Babu Kanneganti, Founder and Executive Director of Centre for Human Security Studies (CHSS) proposed a vote of thanks and expressed his willingness to have Memorandum of Understanding with the VIT-AP School of Law as a knowledge partner and also to work with the AP Police.

The program was participated by students, faculty and staff of the University.
