Bar & Bench

Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Jasmine Brar, a third-year student at Army Institute of Law, Mohali

(Edited excerpts)

Why did you choose to study law? Did you have any other interests before deciding to pursue law school?

Since my school time I had an inclined interest towards social sciences. Law is a vast field, it being inter-related to social sciences such as History, Sociology, Psychology etc. My interest in law started from here. In my 12th I was very sure about pursuing this field and giving back to society.

I also aspire to join the Armed Forces someday, as being an Army Brat, it not only made me understand this way of life, but I also realized that it’s the best way to serve the country.

Why did you choose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador?

Being a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador has made me not only a more aware and informed individual as far as legal field is concerned, it also made me shoulder some responsibilities which shaped me as a person.

Holding any post of responsibility, especially this one teaches you to deal with many situations, it makes you learn, grow and get experience in life.

What are your plans after graduation?

I want to join the JAG Branch in the Army. As it is a combination of law and Army, both of which have always been my area of interest. I am also aspiring to join the Army as an Officer.
