Call for Submission: NLS Business Law Review (Submission on Rolling Basis)

The blog's goal is to recognise and foster cutting-edge academic scholarship on commercial law.

Bar & Bench

The Editorial Board of the NLS Business Law Review  (NLSBLR) for 2022-23 is inviting original and unpublished submissions for its blog.

About NLSBLR

The NLSBLR is a student-run journal at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.

The Journal is accompanied by the NLSBLR Blog, which carries shorter and contemporaneous pieces on recent developments in commercial law.

The Blog intends to foster academic scholarship in commercial law by examining the myriad regulatory and legal frameworks, be it domestic or international, that impact business and commerce in either India or abroad. It particularly welcome submissions with a comparative law perspective, with a focus on India or the developing country context generally. The mandate, amongst other things, includes company law, securities law, banking and finance, tax law, international investment law, international commercial arbitration, commercial dispute resolution, intellectual property law, contract law, and employment law.

Submission Guidelines

Detailed submission guidelines (along with the process for submission) for the Blog are available on our website. In brief, the blog accepts submissions that fall within the following categories:

  1. Responses to articles in the print Journal or previous articles published on the NLSBLR Blog.

  2. Comments on contemporary legal developments.

  3. Articles on legal issues which relate to the ease of doing business in India and in the Global South.

  4. Book reviews engaging with recent literary works.

This is not an exhaustive and the blog will publish other pieces as long as they fall within the mandate specified above. The blog attempts to review and process articles within 4-6 weeks of submission.

Please follow up if you have not heard back within 6 weeks. Articles for the blog must be between 1,500-3,000 words and the relevant references must be hyperlinked. Footnote references (if absolutely necessary) must conform to the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).

It is recommended that potential authors choose a topic that is contemporarily relevant. Undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students are especially encouraged to consider writing for the blog. Purely theoretical/philosophical/jurisprudential pieces are welcome.

Submissions must be accompanied with an abstract of not more than 250 words. Further, submitted manuscripts must not contain any biographical information regarding the authors, such as names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgements, etc.

This information can be added at a later stage if the manuscript is accepted for publication. Finally, submissions made to the Blog must be on an exclusive basis and not be under concurrent consideration by any other academic or non-academic publication.

To reiterate, all potential authors should go through the submission guidelines thoroughly before submitting their manuscripts.
