Ad hoc and guest teachers of the Faculty of Law at Delhi University have alleged that there has been a ‘scam’ in the appointment of Assistant Professors..A press release states that a list of 126 individuals selected for the post was read out during an Executive Committee meeting held on January 30, four months after the final round of interviews concluded in September 2017..It is alleged that the results have not been declared either on the University’s website or on any other public forum. This, according to the aggrieved parties, is in violation of University by-laws and established practice..“University practice in regard to selection other departments/colleges have been to upload the list of screened/shortlisted candidates on the University website.”.Another allegation is that the names of the selected persons were doing the rounds on social media, even prior to the sealed cover being opened at the January 30 meeting of the EC. It is alleged that several appointees have already taken office despite the list of those selected not being publicly notified, as stipulated under the by-laws..The document also states that of the 100 or so ad hoc and guest teachers – who have varying levels of experience ranging up to 12 years – over 60 percent have now been rendered unemployed.
