The Allahabad High Court will soon see the appointment of 19 new additional judges.

The appointment of these judges will significantly decrease the number of vacancies at the High Court; the working strength will now be 110, as against a sanctioned strength of 160 judges.
The Supreme Court’s warning to the Centre last year in Lt Kabotra’s petition seeking expedition in appointment of judges seems to have paid off. Then Chief Justice of India TS Thakur had threatened to summon officials of the Prime Minister’s office in view of the Centre’s lackadaisical approach in passing appointment files.
In July this year, nine new additional judges had been appointed to the High Court.
Sources reveal that the new appointees are likely to be sworn in next week.
