AIBE Update Certificates of Practice to be dispatched and second AIBE on June 26 to include Chennai aspirants

The second All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is slated for June 26, 2011 for new candidates, for Chennai aspirants and for students who could not clear the first AIBE. Certificates of Practice are currently being printed for those aspirants who cleared the AIBE on March 6, 2011 and will be available for collection with the concerned State Bar Councils shortly..According to a press release by the Bar Council of India (BCI) “The AIBE can be taken by (i) all candidates who failed to clear the earlier AIBE on March 6, 2011; (ii) new candidates who wish to take the AIBE. In addition the AIBE will also be conducted in Chennai on the same date for all candidates who were registered to take the AIBE on March 6, 2011..Registration for the AIBE will open on April 25, 2011 and close on May 24, 2011. Candidates who wish to take the AIBE on June 26, 2011 can apply for the same by picking up application forms from a State Bar Council from April 25, 2011 onwards, downloading the same from the BCI website or registering online (full details of the same will be available on the BCI website from April 25, 2011 onwards)..Candidates who failed to clear the AIBE held on March 6, 2011 will only have to pay Rs. 700 to undertake the AIBE on June 26, 2011 (fresh preparatory materials will not be provided to these candidates). The application form for the AIBE on June 26, 2011 is a consolidated form and candidates who failed to clear the AIBE on March 6, 2011 will have to indicate that they have undertaken the AIBE earlier and enter their prior details, for ease of reference”..The cost for retaking the Bar exam is Rs. 700 (without preparatory material) as opposed to Rs. 1,300 the BCI had taken for the first AIBE with preparatory material..The first AIBE took place successfully on March 6, 2011 and saw a pass percentage of 71 percent with the exception of Chennai where the Bar exam could not take place due to violent protests by some students and was later again postponed because of local State Elections on April 13, 2011.
