Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar appointed Acting Chief Justice for Andhra Pradesh High Court [Read Notification]

The Government has notified the appointment of an Acting Chief Justice to helm the newly created Andhra Pradesh High Court at Amaravati.

For the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Government notification issued today intimates the appointment of Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar, the senior-most judge of the High Court as its Acting Chief Justice starting from January 1, next year. The notification states,

“Consequent upon the constitution of separate High Court for the State of Andhra Pradesh by the President vide notification dated 26.12.2018, and in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar, senior-most Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 01.01.2019.”

Another notification issued today also intimates that Justice TB Radhakrishnan, the Chief Justice of the erstwhile Hyderabad High Court for both states will continue to work as Chief Justice in the Hyderabad High Court, which is set to become the High Court for the state of Telangana from next year onwards. The same notification also intimates that Justices Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and V Ramasubramanian, who are from other High Courts originally, will continue in the Hyderabad High Court for the state of Telangana from next year.
