The Union Government today constituted a five-member expert committee headed by former Supreme Court Judge B.N. Srikrishna on the burning Telangana issue..Former Nalsar University of Law Director and incumbent Vice Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi, Dr. Ranbir Singh is a part of the committee. Dr Abusaleh Shariff, a Senior Research Fellow at International Food Policy Research Institute, Delhi, Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT, Delhi and Vinod K. Duggal, former Home Secretary doubling as the committee’s Member Secretary form the other four members..A Home Ministry spokesperson said the committee is to hold state wide consultations across a cross section of people and with different political parties in Andhra Pradesh. The Union Government had in December ’09, worked itself into a corner when it promised agitators in Andhra Prades that it would initiate the formation of a separate state before backtracking.
