Of 397 advocates designated  Senior Advocates by Supreme Court since 1962 only 5 are women- New Report on challenges faced by women in the legal profession

Legal consultants, Swagata Raha and Sonal Makhija, have prepared a 109-page report titled “Challenges faced by Indian women legal professionals” in which they have surveyed women lawyers working in Bombay, Delhi and Bangalore. The report, which can be seen below, makes a host of interesting observations on the various difficulties and perceptions that women have to encounter while working in the legal field. Bar & Bench spoke to both Swagata and Sonal on the reasons behind preparing the report, their observations in the course of research and who stands to benefit from such studies.
