These grants are subsidies provided by the centre and state governments, and help in making study material for the blind. BMC has informed the court that a total of 7196 buildings were inspected out of which 3301 were in the suburbs while 3895 were in the city. Notices for non-compliance have been issued to 3291 buildings in the suburbs and 1521 in the city..Today in court: The BMC failed to file further affidavit in the matter. The matter has been adjourned to be heard on June 24..BMC has been directed to clarify its position regarding Section 2(3) of the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006. Also, according to the National Building Code of India, buildings taller than 75 metres must have an internal machanism for fire safety in place. BMC has to file a reply regarding compliance of this provision in Mumbai..Petitioners raised the issue of compensation to firemen’s families. BMC has now been directed to ascertain whether there is a policy in place for grant of compensation to firemen’s kin in case of death or injury on-duty. All replies will have to be filed on or before June 17.
