After Cyrus Mistry was replaced by Ratan Tata as Chairman of Tata Sons last evening, there are speculations that Mistry will challenge his removal in the Bombay High Court.
It is understood that law firms have been hired and senior advocates have been engaged in what could be one of the most high profile litigation of the year.
Tata Group has hired Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Karanjawala & Co, according to authoritative sources. The team from SAM & Co includes Partners Shuva Mandal and Ameya Gokhale.
Karanjawala team includes the Managing Partner Raian Karanjawala, Partner Ruby Singh Ahuja and Tahira Karanjawala.
The big seniors advising Tata Group include Harish Salve and Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
Cyrus Mistry has hired Desai and Diwanji with a team led by Senior Partner Apurva Diwanji.
Mistry is son in law of Iqbal Chagla, who is also being briefed along with Senior Counsels Virag Tulzapurkar and Janak Dwarkadas, according to several sources.
Mistry has also engaged former JSA Partner and Counsel Somasekhar Sundaresan, according to sources.
So far Tata has filed caveats in Bombay High Court and National Company Law Tribunal.
