In a meeting held yesterday, CJI Lodha said that the SCBA’s representation of August 13 has been forwarded to the Rule Committee with a request to consider the same objectively and in consultation with the SCBA..Further, the CJI has also agreed to keep in abeyance the rule capping a maximum of two lawyers for one case. Therefore, the appearance of all lawyers will be reflected in the order sheet till the issue is finally decided..With regard to the court fees also, the CJI has assured the SCBA that if the Rule Committee accepts the suggestions of the SCBA, any excess court fees will be refunded..The CJI has also agreed that the A4 size paper for filing petitions under Order XV Rule 11 will be optional and not compulsory..The Supreme Court had earlier deferred the implementation of the Rules pertaining to the misconduct of AoRs. The SCBA members did not wear white ribbons yesterday as was resolved last week. A meeting of the General Body meeting of the SCBA will now be held on August 25 at 4: 10 pm in Library No. 1 of the Supreme Court to invite “supplementary suggestions” from the members so that the same can be conveyed to the Rule Committee.
