Mumbai-based law firm Rajani Associates and Delhi-based Singhania & Partners have merged to form a national level law firm. The merger is effective from November 1, 2013.
Both Prem Rajani and Ravi Singhania confirmed the merger.
The merged firm will operate under the name ‘Rajani, Singhania & Partners’ and have 18 partners and 80 lawyers. It will have offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad and will be jointly managed by both Prem Rajani and Ravi Singhania.
According to sources, both the firms have signed the agreement this week after several rounds of discussions held over the last few months.
Speaking on the merger, Ravi Singhania said, “This merger is part of both our growth stories. Through our combined expertise and extended reach, we aim to increase our foot print in new jurisdictions and practice areas; and unlock the present and potential business opportunities propelling business growth.”
Prem Rajani added, “With individual strengths as well as many common strengths we can leverage our commonalities thereby creating a value proposition for all our clients.”
Both Rajani Associates and Singhania & Partners were established in 1999 by Prem Rajani and Ravi Singhania respectively.
It is understood that Legal league Consulting (LLC) was involved in this merger. When contacted, Bithika Anand, Founder & CEO of LLC said, "Singhania & Partners and Rajani Associates have a strong presence in Delhi and Mumbai respectively. This merger combines both the territorial and practice area expertise of the firms. This places the merged firm in a unique position to serve their national and international clients even better as well as to attract new clientele by showcasing their combined strength."
LLC has been involved in some of the recent mergers including the Udwadia & Udeshi and Argus Partners. According to Bithika, thoughtful consolidations in mid sized law firms are an effective way of catapulting growth – a trend which is picking up.
In January this year, Link Legal and India Law Services had merged to form Link Legal- India Law Services. Thereafter, SNG & Partners and S N Gupta & Co had merged their practices to form a full service law firm. In April 2013, Narasappa, Doraswamy & Raja and V Chambers of Law merged to form Samvad Partners.
