NCLT Bar Association formed, felicitates Chairperson Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya

A National Company Law Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal Bar Association has been formed and registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

The Association has been formed by various professionals, including Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, Cost Accountants and Lawyers, who regularly practice in the company jurisdiction in India. The current executive committee is headed by Senior Advocate Virender Ganda as the President, advocate Ved Jain is the Vice President while Rakesh Kumar is the Secretary. The byelaws of the association provide for a new executive committee to be elected, as early as possible, not later than one year.

As the New Companies Act provides for representation of litigants through the Advocates, Company Secretaries, Cost Accountants and Chartered Accountants, the association provides for membership to professionals from all such institutions.

In a function held on August 10 at the India Habitat Centre, the Association felicitated the Chairperson of NCLAT, Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya, President of NCLT, Justice MM Kumar and other members of NCLAT & NCLT. The function was also attended by Justice Permod Kohli, Chairperson of Central Administrative Tribunal who was a Guest of Honour

The National Company Law Tribunal and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal were constituted with effect from June 1, 2016 thereby replacing the Company Law Board.

The NCLT has eleven Benches – two at New Delhi and one each at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. The NCLAT has one Bench at New Delhi.

Appeals from NCLAT would lie to the Supreme Court of India.
