J. Sagar Associates has designated Amit Kapur as “Senior Partner” of the firm with effect from 1st April, 2017, according to the firm’s press release. Amit will take over the role of Senior Partner from Berjis Desai, who is set to retire in March next year.
Earlier this year, the firm had elected Dina Wadia and Shivpriya Nanda as Joint Managing Partners.
Amit, a Partner since 2000, is also a member of the Executive Committee of JSA. He has anchored the firm’s Infrastructure practice since 1997 and now chairs the Regulatory & Policy Practice (including Public Procurement and PPP).
In a statement released by the firm, it is stated,
“Though Amit has a heavy schedule, he has taken the responsibility of leading and anchoring the firm’s strategy, a role uniquely suited to his skills and experience.
Senior Partner and the Joint Managing Partners will collaborate and co-ordinate strategy implementation and in the firm’s external events and internal interface. This is an outstanding example of what JSA is – a professional and collegial partnership with maturity to handle transition and change.
We warmly congratulate Amit and wish him all the best. We are sure that he will, with his intense focus and deep commitment, shine in this role.”
This appointment of Amit Kapur as a Senior Partner puts an end to the market speculation that has been doing the rounds for a while.
