Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi will represent the Kerala government in the review petition against the judgment in Soumya murder case..As per PTI report, this was confirmed by State Law Minister AK Balan in a press conference today. Balan also said that the AG would request for an open court hearing of the review petition..Balan also said that the conviction under Section 325 would itself be used to press for charge of murder..The Supreme Court by its judgment dated had acquitted Govindachamy of the charge of murder under Section 302 instead substituting it with section 325 – causing grievous hurt..Balan also reacted to the criticism by the opposition UDF regarding the lawyers engaged by the State contending that Senior Advocate Thomas P Joseph was appointed by the UDF government in 2015 and not by the current LDF government..The review petition will be filed this week.
