SNG step on gas Hiren Mehta to lead Mumbai litigation practice Rakhi Shanker returns

Come February, Hiren Mehta, MLS Vani & Associates’ Dispute Resolution and Real Estate Partner will start a new stint with SNG in Mumbai..S.N. Gupta & Co are looking aggressive on the hiring front. After having recruited Rashi Anand Suri, a former Planning Commission member, they are expanding with the hire of MLS Vani & Associates’ Dispute Resolution and Real Estate Partner, Hiren Mehta [pictured]..Mehta brings with him, over 17 years of experience across various practice groups. He started his practice with Kadwani & Co., before moving on to Dhruve Liladhar & Co. After stints at Singhania & Co. and DSK Legal, he joined MLS Vani in 2006 as a Partner in their Mumbai office..Rajesh Narain Gupta, SNG’s Managing Partner told Bar & Bench admitted to a vacuum in the financial markets litigation. “We did not have anybody to lead the dispute resolution practice in the Bombay area. He has had a wide exposure to financial litigation and his presence will complement our practice,” he said..This is SNG’s third lateral hire at the partner level in recent times. First it was Vijay Manjrekar bolstering their M&A practice, followed by Rashi Anand Suri supporting their infrastructure practice. With Mehta, a dispute resolution specialist on board, SNG is all set to be a full service law firm. Mehta is set to join SNG starting February. “Now we are a full service firm, not lacking in any area,” Mehta told Bar & Bench..Meanwhile in Delhi, Rakhi Shanker, who had left SNG about two years ago to join Kochhar & Co., has returned as Principal Associate. While it might appear that the firm is aggressively hiring, it is otherwise. “We do need more people, especially with Vijay, Rashi and Hiren joining us, but we are not looking to hire associates for the next couple of months,” said Gupta.
