In a mammoth 531-page judgment, a Bench of Justices Gita Mittal and JR Midha struck down the Court Fees (Delhi Amendment) Act, 2012 through which the Delhi government had sought to increase court fees payable in Delhi. Not only did the High Court rule that the NCT Legislative Assembly lacked the vires to pass the statute, but was also openly critical of the manner in which the Legislative Assembly went about justifying the amendment.
