Government set to repeal 36 Acts through recently introduced Repealing and Amendment Bill of 2014

Introduced at the start of this week, the Repealing and Amendment Bill of 2014 seeks to repeal a total of thirty-six Central legislations, ranging from the Indian Fisheries Act of 1947 to the year-old Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Act of 2013..In fact, out of the thirty-six selected legislations, thirty-two are amendments to already enacted laws..In addition to repealing thirty-six laws, the Bill also seeks to make amendments to the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 as well as the Whistleblowers Protection Act of 2011..The Bill (via PRS Legislative Research) is scheduled to be discussed in Lok Sabha today.
