The agency claimed to have recovered over Rs. 1 lakh from his residence and soon after he was detained, simultaneous searches were carried out at seven places in and around Delhi including the Law College..Various law colleges complained against Rana, and thus an enquiry was carried out which led to Rana’s arrest, while demanding bribe from a Law College based in Ghaziabad. The CBI arrested Rana along with one other person, who Rana claims is his lawyer and was discussing a law school case with him..Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Rana alleged that the agency was deliberately trying to trap him and that he was discussing the case with his fellow Supreme Court Advocate whom he identified as “Tyagi”..According to media reports Rana claimed that both of them had been brought to the CBI headquarters for questioning and were only detained, the CBI sources maintained that he has been arrested and a case of bribery registered against him..Rajinder Singh Rana was first elected to the State Bar Council of Delhi in 1998.
