The Bar Council of India is at the receiving end of flak yet again, with Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa opposing the All India Bar Examination. In a Special Meeting the decision was taken to submit an affidavit with the objections filed in by the other Bar Councils in the Supreme Court, where the matter is coming up for hearing on July 30.
The Indian Express spoke to council member Harshad Nimbalkar who said, “It has been decided that the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa will submit an affidavit in the Supreme Court, to be considered along with the objection petitions filed by the other bar councils. The Supreme Court is expected to decide on these petitions on July 30."
Pune Bar Association President Milind Pawar said, “The AIBE covers the same subjects that are included in the three-year and five-year LLB programmes at law schools in India. What is the point of making students appear for this exam?”

- 4. "It is said that the AIBE is held to improve the quality in the legal field but the fact is that even after this examination the quality is not gona improve as to imprve the quality one need to have a practicle knowledge and by the notifications the passot students are not alloud to appear in the court of law even the got the sanad from the state bar council.... If AIBC really improve the quality of the Lawyers they shold take other ways like... Doing the internship compulsory like other professional courses do, for example Charted accountant(CA), Company Secretary(CS) etc... there is no point keeping the examination after the course of LLB as the entrance examination can be kept before taking the admission in LLB... To generate good quality of lawyers one need to have a practical experience...This open book examination is nothing but wasting the valuable professional time of the students and money too....". Praful Soni, Pune

- 7. "Some years back, it was the ill-considered articleship,ill-considered because Law,unlike other professions cannot,as of today, have a sort of rotating internship.E.g.myself apprenticed with an Income-tax lawyer before moving on to more broad-based consulting law related to multiple departments. What would be the relevance of an area-specific articleship or the present objective-pattern examination in such a case? One truly wonders!". Gautam Pant, Mumbai
