The Moot Court Committee of the National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU-J) has announced its plans to conduct its 3rd Antitrust Law Moot Court Competition from March 2-4, 2012. Colleges interested in participating must register with the University by January 29, 2012.
The competition is being hosted and organised by NLU-J in association with the Competition Commission of India and Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co.
Speaking to Bar & Bench, Joint Convener of the NLU-J Moot Court Committee (MCC), Arjun Pall says that the expectations surrounding the third edition of the event are higher than ever. “The Antitrust Moot has really matured after the 1st and 2nd editions”, he says and the MCC is expecting participation from 30 teams this year as compared to the 16-20 teams for last year's edition.
The Antitrust Moot Court has always received considerable support from the Competition Commission of India (CCI), reveals Pall. In fact, it was due to the support and enthusiasm of Mr. Parashar of the CCI that this competition received the patronage of CCI since 2010. Since then, the MCC has not looked back.
Pall says that the MCC wants to make this the flagship moot of the University. The tie up with Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (AMSS) is certainly an important step in that direction. “They [AMSS] have been extremely supportive” Pall says of the law firm; AMSS has agreed to provide judges for some of the rounds of the competiton.
When asked what the participating teams can expect for this years' moot court problem, all Pall is ready to say is that they need to keep an eye out for recent developments in the field of competition law.
More information about the event can be found here.
