Beijing West Heavy Industries, a Chinese investment group led by the Shougang Group, a State-owned entity, acquired the brake and suspension manufacturing units of the bankrupt US auto parts manufacturer, Delphi Corp for $100 million (Rs. 463 crores). Delphi operates five manufacturing units in India through a wholly owned subsidiary, Delphi Automotive Systems Limited.
Luthra and Luthra, Delhi assisted Beijing West in completing the takeover of the Indian arm of Delphi. The firm assisted Beijing West on structuring and legal issues related to the acquisition of India assets of Delphi by Beijing West, negotiating local transfer and customer contracts, setting up the Indian subsidiary of BWI Group and obtaining all business licenses and permits.
The team at Luthra was led by Partners Sanjeev Sachdeva and S.R. Patnaik, assisted by Managing Associates J.P Singh, Pranjal Bora and Suyash Srivastava and Associates Anshul Jain, Vinay Ahuja and Vivek Agarwal.
