French major Legrand Group has acquired the uninterruptable power supply (UPS) business of Chennai-based electronics equipment manufacturer, Numeric Power Systems for Rs. 806.5 crore ($ 164 million).
The transaction has been done in the form of an asset sale where Numeric Power Systems has sold the UPS business to Legrand’s wholly owned subsidiary Indo Asian Electric and the two parties have entered into a business transfer agreement.
The current transaction between Legrand and Numeric includes the UPS business in India and Sri Lanka, besides an additional purchase of the UPS business of Numeric Singapore, reports VCCircle.
Amarchand & Mangaldas advised Legrand with a team led by Partner Vandana Shroff.
Wong Partnership acted as Singapore legal advisors while FJ&G De Saram acted as Sri Lankan legal advisors for Legrand. The Delhi office of Laxmi Kumaran & Sridhar advised Legrand on tax due diligence matters.
Universal Legal advised Numeric Power Systems with a team led by Partner Kavitha Vijay.
According to Dealcurry, Numeric Group, incorporated in 1984, is in the business of manufacturing and selling UPS, Power Conditioning Products, Solar Power Solutions and LED Lighting Solutions. Numeric is a market leader in UPS products in India. It operates 8 manufacturing facilities and has sales & service network in over 260 locations both in India and overseas.
France based Legrand is engaged in designing, manufacturing and distribution of electrical installations and power distribution products and systems. Legrand India offers electrical and digital building infrastructures related products for residential and commercial buildings, and industrial markets. Legrand India is headquartered in Mumbai and operates through 24 offices and also has a strong manufacturing base with three state-of-the-art manufacturing units and a global R&D centre.
Last year, French engineering company, Schneider Electric had acquired 74 percent stake in leading inverter maker Luminous Power Technologies for Rs. 1,400 crore ($311 million). PRA Law Offices advised Luminous while P&A Law Offices advised Schneider.
