Justice Syed Rafat Alam appointed as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh HC

The President has appointed Justice Syed Rafat Alam of the Allahabad High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He takes over from Acting Chief Justice R.S. Garg.
A graduate of the Patna Law College, he was standing counsel for the State of Bihar as well as for the Bihar State Electricity Board, Patna University and Magadh University. He was elevated as a permanent Judge of the Patna High Court in November 1994. He was transferred to Allahabad High Court the same month and briefly served as the acting chief justice in 2004, and again in 2007.
