Chief Justice of India, K.G. Balakrishnan was admitted into Apollo Hospital late last night after he complained of bouts of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Yesterday, Reliance Natural Resources Limited (RNRL) counsel Mukul Rohatgi argued that it was not bound by the decisions of the Empowered Group of Ministers (EoGM) since they met much after the supply agreement between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and RNRL.
Rohatgi argued for the enforcement of the demerger scheme which stipulated a suitable arrangement for the gas supply. The Bench however questioned him how the MoU was not a part of the demerger scheme and why specifics relating to the gas supply was not mentioned in the demerger scheme. Rohatgi replied that the MoU was the starting point, and despite there being no shareholder approval, everybody knew about it.
Rohatgi, who was to conclude his arguments today filed a fresh affidavit accusing RIL of attempts to inflate the price to profit Rs. 45,000 crore. Due to Justice Balakrishnan's illness, hospitalization and consequent indisposition, the hearing of the RIL-RNRL dispute was postponed indefinitely until further notice.
