Moily has been awarded the 21st Moortidevi Award. His 5-volume magnum opus was released in 2007 when he was the Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission. The selection committee comprised former Sahitya Akademi secretary, K. Satchidanandan, Jnanpith awardee and Sanskrit scholar, Satyavarat Shastri, former Moortidevi awardee, Pratibha Ray, eminent linguist Vrishabha Prasad Jain and eminent authors, Sahu Akhilesh Jain and Ravindra Kalia.

A critically acclaimed author, Moily has published several novels, poems, plays and a collection of articles, apart from the Ramayana Mahaniveshanam. His novels in Kannada have been translated into various languages and even made into a telefilm directed by M.S. Sathyu.
