Additional Solicitor General Amarjit Singh Chandhiok [pictured] was today elected as the President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association, defeating the incumbent K.C. Mittal.

For the first time in the history of this Bar Association, an Additional Solicitor General of the Government of India will be holding the post of its President.

Chandhiok has won the election for the fifth time with 2,306 votes as against Mittal's 1,096. Designated as a Senior Counsel in 1999, he was appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of the Delhi High Court in July this year.

Kirti Uppal was elected to the post of Vice-President and Dinesh Kumar Sharma again won the election for the post of Secretary.
