DLA Piper, arguably one of the largest law firms in the world is not looking for local Indian work or so it would have us believe. In an interview with financial daily Mint, the firm’s co-CEO Lee Miller said that it’s not lobbying the Indian Government or the Bar Council of India for entry into the country.
Miller goes on to say that the firm’s real focus is to understand what’s being done in the Indian legal market and the opportunities that can be derived through entrepreneurship since a major focus of the firm is business and technology.
On being directly asked whether the firm is looking to enter the Indian legal market, Miller responded that while they are very, very interested in the Indian market, they plan to stay out of any roles of trying to persuade anybody of anything and have tried to fit in to the regulatory framework while opening up offices around the world.
