Advocate B.Srikumar has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Karnataka High Court seeking reserving of certain per cent of seats for domicile students. M.V.V Ramana, counsel for the petitioner, said “There are 11 National Law Schools in the country. In most of these institutions, a percentage of seats is reserved for domicile students. This percentage is up to 50 % seats in some of them. At NLSIU (Bangalore), no such percentage is provided for locals,’’ he said.

Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Monday assured final-year law students that the government would go into their opposition to the proposal for an all-India Bar examination for fresh graduates before they take up practice in courts.

Dhananjay Mahapatra at the Times of India questions,' Why govt slept for 13 years on a law against sexual harassment at workplace?' The Government had a Bill ready for nearly 13 years after the Supreme Court formulated a code and declared that this would be the law till the government enacted a suitable legislation.

The New York Times reports how law schools have deliberately changed their grading systems to make them more lenient. The report also says that the schools are retroactively inflating their grades, tacking on 0.333 to every grade recorded in the last few years. The goal is to make its students look more attractive in a competitive job market.

Will Indian schools follow next with the emergence of new law schools and NLUs?

If so they will only get brickbats and things like that. I don't want to stoop to their level and use similar language. We are all custodians of our culture and heritage. Is this the way to react. I only pity them and let this breed of people not multiply and spoil my rich culture. ". Guest, India
