The eagerly awaited Hrithik Roshan starrer, ‘Kites’ will release on its stipulated date thanks to the efforts of their lawyers, Naik, Paranjpe and Co. The movie had run into a spot of trouble when one Laxmi Narayan Prasad had filed a copyright infringement suit in a Bihar City Civil Court.
In the suit filed against Happy Hours Production, Spektrum Entertainment, Dilip Shah, Film Kraft Production India and Adlabs Films, Prasad claimed that he had acquired copyright in the storyboard of Kites, owned by Happy Hours and Spektrum under an arrangement letter. He further claimed that the storyboard was unauthorizedly used by Film Kraft and hence sought an order restraining FilmKraft and Adlabs from releasing the film. The Munisf of the Shoehar District in Bihar passed an order maintaining status quo with regard to the release date of the film, which was May 21, 2010 subject to the appearance of the remaining parties named in the suit.
Filmkraft and Adlabs Films appeared before the Munisf in Shoehar and also filed an appeal before the District Court, Sitamarhi, Bihar challenging the order passed by the Munsif, the District Court dismissed the order passed by the Munisf, since all the parties named in the suit had filed their appearance, thus paving the way of release of the romance flick.
Ameet Naik, Managing Partner of Naik, Paranjpe & Co., instructed counsel Shashi Shekhar Dwivedi to appear on behalf of Filmkraft and briefed counsels M.P. Jha and Subodhkumar Jha to represent Adlabs films.
