Luthra & Luthra has been chosen as the National Winner for the India jurisdiction in International Financial Law Review’s (IFLR’s) Asia Awards 2010 over Amarchand Mangaldas, J. Sagar Associates and S&R.

Nominated in Debt & Equity linked Deal of the year category for the Sterlite Convertible deal and in the Project Finance Deal of the year for the Cairn India restructuring, Luthra did not win in either.

The nominations, announced towards the end of January also had as nominees, Amarchand Mangaldas and J. Sagar Associates for the Cairn India deal, and S&R for the Sterlite deal. Luthra was nominated on both the transactions.

Rajiv Luthra, the Managing Partner told Bar & Bench from Hong Kong, the venue of the awards ceremony, “This is one of the most prestigious awards in Asia. That it was awarded to us only shows our spirit. While 2009 was a bad year for several, we had the best year.” “The firm’s collective effort reversed the trend,” he added.

The list of nominees is available here. Bar & Bench is yet to acquire the complete list of winners. We will publish a complete list as soon as the list comes to our notice.
