The Exodus 9 Partners 60 associates leave Dua to form Tatva

In a breaking story, Bar & Bench has received information that 9 Partners and 60 Associates have left Dua Associates to form a new firm, Tatva Legal. Sources from Dua confirmed that Partners Manav Nagaraj, N.K. Dilip and Manoj Menon from Bangalore, Shishir Sharma from Delhi, and Shailendra Komatreddy and Ekta Bahl from Hyderabad, are amongst the founders of  Tatva Legal. Sources also confirmed that Tatva has offices in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad and added that the firm is in talks to recruit more partners.

In a breaking story, Bar & Bench has received information that 9 Partners and 60 Associates have left Dua Associates to form a new firm, Tatva Legal. Dua Associates is one of India's foremost full service law firms with offices in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Chandigarh.

While law firm breakaways have become fairly common in the recent past, such a mass exodus, across cities, has never before been witnessed by the Indian legal community. Dua, which was 200-lawyers strong, has lost over a quarter of its workforce. Consequent to this move, Dua's Hyderabad office has been the hardest hit, with both Partners moving over to Tatva. It is confirmed that Dua's Hyderabad address has now been transferred to Tatva Legal, leaving Dua without a Hyderabad base. The firm's presence is Bangalore is also crippled, as the exodus has left it with only one corporate Partner.

Dua's associates work in a tightly knit team with Partners across various practice groups. Sources speculate that the teams that worked for the breakaway Partners moved to Tatva with them. The reasons for this unprecedented exodus are unclear.  All of the Partners involved declined to comment on the matter when contacted. However, Partner Shishir Sharma expressed his willingness to speak to Bar & Bench at a future date when all pending matters have been sorted. Watch this space for updates.

i wish all the best to all the lawyers in the tatva team..??? are they hiring?? and looks like they are going to be a corporate work based firm. that would mean Dua has no corporate practice left at all. But anyways all the best and hope you guys prove yourselves to be better than your parent.

The person Mr. Dua who made the so called geniuses must have some useful geniuses with him, if also not there he may make further geniuses for his help and for the help of many associates in future. The person whose mind is behind present situation must ready to realize for good or bad affected to the associates who had run with the situation.

"It is confirmed that Dua's Hyderabad address has now been transferred to Tatva Legal, leaving Dua without a Hyderabad base."Whoever "confirmed" this is wrong. Dua Associates continues at its present office at Hyderabad and the people joining Tatva are moving out.

Seems to be a repeat of FoxMandal with an exception that FoxMandal fortunately did not experienced a vertical split like this though number of persons including partners leaving the firm in recent time is much larger than Dua.Both firms are now left with gargbage.

Interesting point from Anonymous, but those departing never take lousy lawyers. Only good people break away. That is the nature of breakaways.

I wish the Tatva team the very best. I know Shishir personally and believe he is an excellent leader. He has fantastic good will. Dua Assoc is gerat too but believe they have lost the plot and best from the firm have now left. Dua Assoc will need to do some serious cleaning up if they want to stay in the game. Good luck Shishir and team.....rock on!!
