Khaitan boosts competition law practice with J.Sagar hire

Manas Kumar Chaudhuri has joined Khaitan & Co. to head their Competition law and practice arm at the Delhi office.

Before heading the Competition Law & Policy at J Sagar, Chaudhuri, served as a Civil Judge in West Bengal, Joint Director of the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission and Additional Registrar of the Competition Commission of India.

With CCI initiating a range of investigations from Airlines to DTH boxes, Chaudhuri's broad base of experience in advisory, litigation across various settings, is set to bolster Khaitan's Competition Law practice.

Rabindra Jhunjhunwala, the Managing Partner of Khaitan & Co., said, "We are probably the only firm in India which can now boast of a serious Competition Law practice. This hire compliments our full service capabilities. For our international and domestic clients we now offer an expert in this niche practice area."

He had been nominated as the international resource on development of Competition Law & Policy for the Government of Bangladesh under the International Finance Corporation. He also serves Consultant Editor by Manupatra, a leading publisher of Law Reports and Judgments of Court and Tribunals for their quarterly Competition Law reports.

He is a graduate of the Delhi University with an LL.M from Calcutta University.
