National Law Day Awards - Former SC Judge, Senior Counsels, Law Firm Partners among recipients

The Indian Council of Jurists has selected former Supreme Court judge, Justice Arijit Pasayat, Solicitor General, Gopal Subramaniam, Managing Partner of Amarchand Mangldas Shardul Shroff, London Partner of Singhania & Co., Vijay Goel, London Partner of Fox Mandal Ajit Mishra [pictured, from left to right], Senior Counsel, KV Vishwanathan and Criminal Lawyer Ramesh Gupta along with Haryana Chief Minister B.S. Hooda for the National Law Day awards, 2009.

Council convener and Senior Counsel Dr. Adish C. Aggarwala speaking to Bar & Bench said that President Pratibha Patil will be giving away the awards at a two-day function at Vigyan Bhawan tomorrow. He also said the Jury was headed by Former Chief Justice P.N. Bhagwati.

Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam will also be recipient for his sterling contribution for the advancement of the science of jurisprudence.

Ajit Mishra, the Fox Mandal Little partner of London is the recipient of the award as a young achiever. "The prior recipients of this award are eminent and extremely distinguished and it is a privilege and honour to be amongst them," he said speaking to Bar & Bench.

Vijay Goel speaking to Bar & Bench said he is excited to receive this award and acknowledges the recognition it brings. Vijay Goel is one of the first few partners to have moved to London to set up the UK and America practice groups for his firm, Singhania & Co. Vijay Goel is also the founder of Indo-Europe Business Forum that has Indian biggies such as the Hindujas and KK Modi on its Board.
