Poovayya & Co. is the latest member on the real estate bandwagon. A number of firms have, in recent weeks, announced their plans to move to bigger offices in more central locations. After Khaitan and Trilegal, Poovayya & Co. is now relocating its Delhi office.

From their current office in South Extension II in Delhi, Poovayya is moving to a larger space in Gulmohar Park in Hauz Khas, South Delhi. Hauz Khas houses several Senior Advocates and Lawyers. One of the first law firms from south India to set up office in New Delhi, Poovayya established their Delhi offices in 2006. The office currently has a strength of only two lawyers, but will soon be expanding. "We are planning to hire and expand the Delhi office and add a Government and Regulatory Law practice at Delhi. We are in the process of expanding our Bangalore office as well," Managing Partner Sajan Poovayya told Bar & Bench. Their Bangalore office is currently 19-lawyer strong, including 4 partners.  The firm is looking to move its Bangalore office in 2010.

In 2007, Poovayya established an office in Chennai, and is now in the process of establishing offices in Hyderabad and Kolkata. "When we find the right person in Bombay, we will establish an office there," says Sajan Poovayya, who is also the Chairperson of the Karnataka chapter of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Sajan Poovayya, in conversation with Bar & Bench, reveals more about himself and his plans for the firm.
