Symbiosis Law School’s (SLS) placements for this year’s graduating batch have concluded with 30% of its students joining Legal Process Outsourcing companies (LPOs). The batch of 2011 consists of 200 undergraduate students, of which 146 opted to sit for campus placements. 4 students from this batch will be pursuing judicial clerkships in the Supreme Court.
ICICI Bank (Mumbai) and LPO Legasis (Pune) were the top recruiters picking up 5 students each, followed by another LPO, CPA Global (Noida) and Livia Legal who recruited 4 students each. Other major recruiters were Pangea 3 (Mumbai), Bodhi Global (Pune), Aditya Birla (Mumbai) who recruited 3 students each.
SLS saw leading law firms such as Amarchand Mangaldas, J.Sagar Associates, Lakshmi Kumaran Sridharan, Crawford Bayley & Co. etc and companies like ONGC, Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Industries and Star TV visit the law school, but did not recruit any student.
The highest pay package for the 2011 batch went up to 14 lakhs ($31,111) per annum with the average pay package being 6 lakhs ($13,333) per annum.
Speaking to Bar & Bench, Professor Joshua (Faculty Coordinator, Placement Cell) “In today’s age of cut throat competition, knowledge has negligible importance unless its use is wisely streamlined. We at the Placement Cell of this noted law school prove to be the messengers of our students to the legal fraternity. We make efforts to see to it that the tremendous hard work that a student puts throughout his educational career and specifically during his stay at SLS is put to finest use assisting the legal fraternity to scale new peaks of excellence.”
The academic year 2010-2011 was a bag of mixed emotions. It was a hectic affair to light-up some new corporate faces at Symbiosis. However the final result healed the pain of all the efforts that went into making the year a grand success for Symbiosis Law School, Pune in terms of Campus recruitments”.
Professor Joshua claims that 93% of the students have been placed but has provided us data for only 62 students.

- 1. "Thats what Symbi is worth! Can't even tell their statistics, what a shame!". LPO-LPO-LPO,
- 2. "Don't lie!62 out of 200 students have been placed. The recruitment is 30%.". 93%! My Foot. It Is 30%, (Unknown City?)
- 3. "No top tier firms recruited from Symbiosis, Pune. 30% get recruited in LPOs as low level clerks. This is abysmal performance.". Grand Success! What A Joke!, (Unknown City?)
- 4. "get ur facts rite or stop ur journalism-symbi has 140 graduating llb students-not 200.". Get Ur Facts Rite, (Unknown City?)
- 5. "Avgerage salary is 6 lacs eh? THIS IS UNTRUE AND FALSE. LPOs pay around 15-20 thousand per month. This means 2 lacs per year. 30% of the batch has been placed in LPOs. So 2 lacs is the average salary.". Average Salary Is False! It Is 2 Lacs, (Unknown City?)
- 6. "SLS saw leading law firms such as Amarchand Mangaldas, J.Sagar Associates, Lakshmi Kumaran Sridharan, Crawford Bayley & Co. etc and companies like ONGC, Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Industries and Star TV visit the law school, but did not recruit any student. ". No Good Firm Recruited From Symbi, (Unknown City?)
- 7. "This looks a pretty much distorted version of the reality which is far removed from what the article mentions. While the "line about leading firms not recruiting is pure bullshit, a lot of the facts and figures have been tailored to tarnish the image of Symbiosis Law School. I personally know that Wadia Ghandy, Nishith Desai, and Talwar Thakore & Associates have given PPO's with hansome salaries to Symbi students. This is disgraceful.". Sujata, (Unknown City?)
- 8. "@ sujata-- Recruiting directly from campus is different from getting a PPO. Please understand this. The truth is SLS stands no where in front of National Law Schools. (edited). SLS despite being such an old institution has failed miserably.I can only laugh at those fools who join SLS leaving the NLU's.....in my opinion ....SLS stands no where before...NLS,NALSAR,NUJS,NLU J,GNLU ,NLIU and even HNLU". Varun, (Unknown City?)
- 9. "Let bar & Bench get their facts right. Firms like Amarchand didnt visit SLS at the first instance in 2011 however the law school has alumni's working in these forms from the previous batches. So there is no question of coming and not recruiting. All the firms that visited the law school recruited at least one student. AS far as the LPO's are concerned it may be noted that the package at SLS was pretty decent and was definitely much more and 20k / month. Every organization has a right to restrict the circulation of its data and I feel Prof. Joshua is right in his own way in not revealing the entire statistics. Bar and Bench continuing to get its statistics wrong quotes that the batch strength was 200 when in reality it was around 150 or somewhat less that. And when the concerned faculty mentioned 93% placement, he meant those who wished to be placed and not pursue further studies. Out of these 93% have been placed. So he is right in his own way. I am not a supporter or well wisher of Symbiosis, but definitely wont give a deaf ear if the law school's name is tarnished for no reason whatsoever. ". Shree, Mumbai
- 10. "Deloitte is a LPO----woh Legal wala LPO?? I'm surprised. Always thought Deloitte is a consultancy!!". Loop With A Hole, Meri Gali
- 11. "The funny part is how Symbiosis Law School has to toe a perpetual defensive stance. Everything you hear from anyone touting the Symbiosis brandname is a cover up story-and a very shoddy one at that. ". Symbiosis Alumnus,
- 12. "hahaha! You must a student at Symbi Sujata.Bar and Bench is a trusted, independent publication. Well done for this work! I am sure now no law aspirant will want to join symbiosis! Why go there, when it can't provide jobs to 70% of the student. Out of the remaining 30%, 30% get LPOs!". Not To Tarnish But To Bring Out The Reality, (Unknown City)
- 13. "If you are not from symbi how does it even matter what the average pay packages are like or what the highest is like?thats none of your business..u have a national tag for yourself go be happy with that. The ones from symbi know what the facts and statistics are like and who got placed where so its pointless defending symbi everytime.and guys seriously get a life.". Watever, (Unknown City?)
- 14. "We very well know the placement statistics of national law colleges like HNLU, GNLU, CNLU, NLIU... placement recors od symbi is far better than these colleges...". XYZ, New Delhi
- 15. "Why r people so obsessed with Symbiosis? if it is not a good college, then why u people r wasting ur time? go get life guys...u dont have to bother for symbiosis...". Ravi, New Delhi
- 16. "Since when was deloitte a LPO? Link and yeah, symbi placement figures might not be comparable to that of Nlsiu, Nalsar , Nujs but it's certainly better than HNLU and CNLU(where firms don't even go to recruit) and the NLUs at patiala or lucknow. And every big law firm recruits from symbi.every year. thing is symbi has 150 students to place. and still manages 93%.". A NLSIUite., Bangalore
- 17. "@ XYZ --- Do you have any clue about GNLU's recruitment this year...GNLU has come up as one of the best law schools in this country.Way better than Symbi. In my batch there are more than 50 students who got through symbi, but didnt take it. Infact last years symbi entrance test toppers are in my batch. Shame on you people, despite being a 40 year old institution you could not place students. ". Sandhu, New Delhi
- 18. "@SAndhu: I have worked with 4 GNLUites in the same law firm... so plz dont tell me howz ur placement and other thngs...". Ravi, New Delhi
- 19. "i myself have left GNLU for symbi.... name is Ravi, rank within top 10 (most probably 8) 2004 batch... i have many friends from GNLU... so lets not discuss things... i know very well...". Ravi, New Delhi
- 20. "well i must say that all national colleges do have only a hand full of people to place and SLS did provided placement to a large number.. and lets not forget that this year also 93% students are placed out of which 30% was recruited by LPO. Thats a way beyond national law colleges..@varun i dont think there is any need to sit for placements when u got a PPO directly and yes, we Symbians are capable of getting PPO from firms like amarchand and nishith desai etc.. and dont talk abt NLU's, we know how many got placed during a year and that to from a bunch of students..". Udit Garg, New Delhi
- 21. "This happened becoz of principle of this law college who says we are not recruitment agency and demoralize students at the very first day of thier induction program and give placment cell in the hands of new untrained faculty to hone their skills while playing with future of budding lawyers". Abc, Delhi
- 22. "pls dnt believe watevr dese guys r sayn..symbi is a brilliant college which provides gr8 global exposure plus good placements too with a good package which is way bettr dan nlu's .Ihav lefft nlu for symbi n m very happy being a student of symbi....the statistics givn are wrong..maxm students of d 5 yr batch has been placed very wrll n dose who r nt want to go as a lawyer or sum govt. job n if symbi wuld hav nt being able to make upto dat level dese prestigious firms would hav nt landed dre for recruitment.............". Unknown, Chandigarh
- 23. "Symbiosis Law College#Infrastructure: Building having 12 rooms (2 floors) thats it. Even my school had better infra than thisFaculty: Barring 5-6 profs., others are good for nothingPlacements: 93 % (quite possible as many small law firms and LPOs are brought to show augmented placement statistics) Principal: She is not at all concerned about placements.(Imagine the plight of students in having such principal)But having said that, students who are dilligent enough do get into good law firms due to their own initiative and not through the college. And none of the law firms and companies that are said to have come and not recruited is totally baseless as they had not come to the college in the first place. But Trilegal did come to the college and didn't recruit any of the students. ". QWERT,
- 24. "Whats the whole argument even about? Am from RMLNLU and our 5th years got placed pretty decently. But the fact of the matter is, its not only the institutions responsibility, but the students themselves - if they work hard, they'll definitely get placed well. it is not the responsibility of an institution to ensure that students with no merit or capability also get placed. Wherever you are, NLU or no NLU, you will be placed if you deserve to be...". Bhavya, Mumbai
- 25. " I completely agree with what no.24 had said. Trying to belittle any University just goes to show what a dimwit you are , I thought law students were supposed to be logical , some people get placed because of the top profile connections they have and some get it because of their merit , internships etc . ". Miss NUJS, Bangalore
- 26. "hello guys!.i want to know the top 3 institutes that offers 3 years LLB course..most imp-which has a good placement record..details please!". Priya, Delhi
