AIBE Update Copy of admit card available at the exam centres and can be downloaded
According to the latest press release by the Bar Council of India (BCI), the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) will be held as per schedule on March 6, 2011.
According to the latest press release by the Bar Council of India (BCI), the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) will be held as per schedule on March 6, 2011.
Speaking with Bar & Bench, the Convenor of the AIBE confirmed that copies of the admit card will be available at the exam centres on furnishing a proof of identity. At the same time from February 24 onwards, admit cards can be downloaded from the BCI website.
The BCI press release states the list of all the candidates appearing for the exam with their corresponding roll numbers. The site gives details of candidates whose demand drafts have errors, whose forms are incomplete and whose preparatory materials have returned. In order to appear for the AIBE, these candidates will have to immediately correct the errors in relation to the data submitted in the forms and demand drafts.
The exam timing is 11:30 am to 3:00 pm and candidates will not be allowed to enter the hall after 11:15 am. Candidates are required to carry a proof of identity in the form of passport, driving license, PAN card, Voters ID, Ration card or State Bar Council Enrolment card. A candidate can carry any book or study material, including the preparatory material for the AIBE, but will not be allowed to share the reading material. Electronic device of any kind will not be allowed into the examination hall.
Bar & Bench first reached out to BCI Chairman Gopal Subramanium on February 18, and confirmed the Bar exam slated for March 6.

February 23, 2011 - 12:49pmFriends, I am a qualified lawyer with over 5 years of experience. I'm nowhere connected with AIBE but I am deeply pained and anguished with the way BCI, Mr. Gopal Subramniam & Rainmaker have treated India's promising law graduates across the country. The decision to conduct a Bar Exam like this is legally flawed, in violation of Advocates Act & BCI Rules and against S.C. Judgement and the spirit of Constitution including the fundamental right of a law graduate to practise law under Art. 19. If an MBBS graduate or a C.A./Architecture passout gets a right to work and practise just after getting his degree, why LL.B. graduates are being forced to write an additional exam? Don't you think, the best way to improve the quality of bar is to improve the quality of legal education and not by introducing such an 'Open Book' / MCQ/OMR exam with 6-7 objective questions in each area? I find the quality of a large no. of questions in this so called AIBE is nothing more than LL.B. Entrance Exams of the country. Why this joke? Why Mockery of Indian Legal Profession? Why doubts over quality of Indian Law graduates? Why doubting your own legal education system in spite of improving it? Mr. Gopal Subramaniam, with all due respect is MISGUIDED by vested interest groups. He acted in haste and hurry. This is not the way Exams are conducted in India. See, UPSC exams or even CLAT for that matter. He must rise to the occasion to have courage to postpone the exam for once and for ever and do it in future with legislative backing and adequate systems in place. And, Law Grads, My dear friends, if the exam happens, there is no need of preparation as such, take Rainmaker Books to exam halls, all questions would be from there only and almost every one 'll pass. Later on, this exam 'll be scrapped once matter taken up by Hon'ble SC..
