Khaitan continues the hiring spree 2 senior lawyers join from Thakker amp Thakker

Khaitan & Co has hired Ketan Kothari (pictured left) as a Director and Anand Mehta (pictured right) as a Partner for their Mumbai offices. Both, Ketan Kothari and Anand Mehta were Partners at Thakker & Thakker, which closed due to founding Partner Bijesh Thakker's philanthropic interests.

Khaitan & Co has hired Ketan Kothari (pictured left) as a Director and Anand Mehta (pictured right) as a Partner for their Mumbai offices. Both, Ketan Kothari and Anand Mehta were Partners at Thakker & Thakker, which closed due to founding Partner Bijesh Thakker's philanthropic interests.

Speaking to Bar & Bench, Ketan said, “I’m quite excited to be a Director at Khaitan and I look forward to a long relationship and a career over here. What attracted me to Khaitan was the dynamic team and the humility that I found amongst everyone”.

On his core area, Ketan said, “I specialize in International Tax and structuring and advisory in respect of India strategies to MNCs including Mergers & Acquisitions. I also look into taxation and exchange control implications, but my core expertise remains to be International Taxation”.

Ketan is a qualified Chartered Accountant and worked with Thakker & Thakker for over 13 years where he advised several international and domestic clients. Ketan also focuses on Foreign Direct Investment and issues related to the SEBI Takeover Code, Delisting guidelines, Insider Trading regulations, exchange control issues etc.

Anand Mehta is a qualified Advocate and Company Secretary and has worked with Thakker & Thakker for over 10 years. He has also worked with Arthur Andersen and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Anand has been practicing law for over 20 years and specializes in Corporate and Commercial Laws, Securities Laws, Intellectual Property Laws, Joint Ventures, M & A, Employment Laws and Real Estate Laws.

Khaitan has been upscaling its Mumbai practice with recent partner level hires with Partners Vaishali Sharma joining the firm in October  and Devidas Banerji joining in September last year.
